Jane "Jan" Baumbach passed peacefully on January 3, 2023 in her home, surrounded by family at the age of 81. Jan was born on May 27, 1941 to Corwin and Mildred Nicoll in Chicago, Illinois. As the youngest of four children, Jan was doted on and always spoke fondly of childhood memories. In 1954, at the age of 12, she moved with her parents to Pittsburg, CA. Jan graduated from Pittsburg High School and continued her education at the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Education. Jan had an esteemed career as a Pittsburg educator, teaching 1 ^st grade at El Pueblo Elementary and Los Medanos Elementary for over 30 years.

In 1974, Jan married fellow Pittsburg Educator, Richard "Dick" Baumbach. They were married for 43 years until Dicks passing in 2017. Together they had two children, Scott Baumbach (Tracy) of Napa and Richard "Rick" Baumbach (Tracey) of Pittsburg and six grandchildren.

Jan's hobbies included reading, watching sports, especially Raider and Cal football games, traveling, drinking wine and participating in various clubs and organizations. Jan held positions within Stoneman Village, Ladies of the Elks, Pittsburg Women's Community League and the United Methodist Church.

Jan will be dearly missed by her family and friends and fondly remembered for her outgoing personality, sense of humor and impeccable style. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pittsburg Women's Community League Scholarship Fund.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Pittsburg Senior Center. Because Jan felt that her attire was an integral part of any event, the family kindly asks guests to wear something to honor Jan and the things that she loved; Raiders, Cal, Hawaiian or holiday themed attire.
