Jay recently lost his 10 year fight with Myocarditis and Heart Failure. Although we will miss his big smile and unconditional love we have comfort in knowing he is at peace.
Jay was born and raised in Pittsburg, a 1978 graduate of Pittsburg High School. He played football in both High School and at Hayward State University as strong safety. He began work after college as an Information Technology Support Technician, eventually working in Silicon Valley on contracts for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Jay is survived by his loving daughters Janelle Machado (Dennis) and Jayme, and adoring grandsons Jayden and Julian. He will be greatly missed by all his family, mother Dorothy, sister Judy, brothers Jim (Patrice) and Jeff (Linda), and all his nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of aunts, cousins and in-laws. Jay was preceded in death by his father Clarence Shipe and the love of his life, his wife Julie (Fairhurst) Shipe.
Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 30th at 12:00pm at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or 800-805-5856.
