Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Jeannie Bishop. She lived a life defined by strength, kindness, generosity, and love for others. Jeannie was born in Antioch,  California to Salvatore and Angelina Bruno. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg.

As a teen, she helped her family in their fish market and also worked at the historic Vogue Theatre, where she met her husband, Roger Bishop. Jeannie and Roger were married for 49 years. She later worked alongside her mother at a cannery and then worked for US Steel for 25 years, demonstrating the resilience and determination that would define much of her life. She later worked as a medical technician, where her caring nature and dedication to helping others touched many lives.

In retirement, Jeannie and her husband, Roger, operated a business together, continuing her lifelong work ethic and dedication to family.

In her spare time, Jeannie enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting, and especially fishing.

Jeannie was known for her generous heart, warm spirit, and sassy sense of humor. She created lasting memories with family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.

She is survived by her beloved boyfriend, Barry; her two daughters, Dina and Christine; her sons-in-law, Steve and Jason; her grandchildren, Vince, Devin, Kaylee, and Jacob; and several great-grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

Jeannie is also survived by her brother, Bert, and her sisters, Marilyn and Norma. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor, and by her husband, Roger.

She also leaves behind many extended family members and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
