Jennie died in her home in Pittsburg early Sunday morning; September 21, 2014 at the age of 99. Jennie was born in Pittsburg and was the wife of the late John Vitalie. She was the daughter of Andrea and Rachela Continente. She is survived by her two children: Andrea and Frank Vitalie. Her siblings were the late Philomena Sapone, Tony Continente, Vince Continente, Rose Florentino, Caroline Riva Nicolosi. John Continente and Mary Lograsso.
The kindness demonstrated by her surviving first cousin Rose Napolitano and niece Rachel Diaz during her long ordeal will forever be etched in our hearts. Thanks to all her nieces and nephews who took the time to brighten up her day.
Jennie was a homemaker and seasonal cannery worker, who worked at the Antioch Papermill before she was married. She volunteered her time at the Y.L.I, Sons of Italy and other social and charitable events. She was a devout Catholic who made several pilgrimage to Fatima, Garabandal, The Holy Land, Assisi, Rome Guadalupe and Medjugorje.
Jennie enjoyed hosting many family get togethers for the holidays and other occasions. The guests were always treated to her culinary delights and wonderfully baked cakes, pies and cookies.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 6pm with a vigil at 7pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch. Donations can be made to Church of the Good Shepherd in her name or charities of choice.
