Jim E. Johnson passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2017 at his home in Soquel. Jim was born on June 23, 1950 in Pittsburg, CA. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1968 and was a member of the school band and football team. He attended DVC and became a Riverview Firefighter in 1973. He served as a firefighter in the Pittsburg/Antioch area for 30 years before retiring in 2003. Upon retiring, he took up playing the harmonica and made many friends throughout the blues community. He spent his last year living at the beach fulfilling a lifelong dream. He enjoyed long walks with his little dog Kaylie at Seacliff State Beach, corn dogs and the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and most of all his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his children Julie Bickford (Jeff) of Elk Grove, Jimmy Johnson (Kim) of Parker, Colorado, his sister Janyce Svoboda (Bob), his Aunt Barbara Hanson and his granddaughters Brittany and Mackenzie Bickford. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Jeanine Johnson and brother Joe Johnson.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Please consider a donation to the Animal Rescue Recon in Oakley, CA or the American Heart Association in Jim's honor.
