John Luna Cabrera was born on January 27, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was the 4th child born to Leonardo and Maria Cabrera. John had a relatively meager upbringing, however he longed to leave Colorado. In 1947 at the age of 16 (he falsified his birthday to make a 17 year old age minimum), he enlisted in the United States Army as a medic. He completed his basic training at Fort Ord, California and likewise completed his medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His first duty assignment was on a hospital ship transporting soldiers from the California Coast to and from the island of Guam. His next and final duty assignment was working at the medical aid station located at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, California. While still in the Army, he met his wife Rachael Tiscareno from Pittsburg and was married in 1952. After discharging from the army in 1954, he and his wife settled in the Parkside Neighborhood of Pittsburg where they raised their 3 children John David Cabrera, Valerie Cabrera and Patricia Aliotti. To make ends meet John worked various odd jobs until he gained employment with the US Steel Mill in Pittsburg from which he retired in 1993. John And Rachel would spend many happy years together watching their family grow. 5 Grandchildren would follow including Tamara, Ross, Santino, Little John and Little Rachel. They also loved their 5 great-grandchildren as well. John and Rachel's love would endure through the years and they would stay together until his death from natural causes on May 15th, 2023. He was 92 years old.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy at 12:00pm at St. Peter Martyr Church. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
