Obituary

He is survived by his father, John Esquibell Sr., and mother, Tina Estrella-Esquibell; two brothers, Martin Nunez (Esperanza Jacobo) and Miguel Sandoval (Marissa Padilla-Sandoval); and his sister, Destiny Iniguez. He is a loved tío to seven children — Anaya Sandoval, Ava Sandoval, Cruz Sandoval, Emmie Nunez, Emiah Nunez, Emiliano Nunez, and Miklo Iniguez. He also leaves behind his best friend, Rita Cruz, and countless more family members and friends who cherished him deeply.

Mica was a proud graduate of Pittsburg High School and later furthered his education at Unitek College. He went on to become a well-loved general manager at Stiiizy in San Francisco, where his leadership and kindness left a lasting impact on both his coworkers and community. Though he had only been living in Oakland for a short few months, he had found peace and happiness there, proud of his accomplishments and finally content with where life had taken him.

Mica will forever be remembered for his infectious smile and contagious laugh that could light up any room. He had a deep love for nature, art, and music, and he carried a heart that was always willing to give — often putting others before himself. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved, and his presence brought joy to all who knew him.

Though his time with us was far too short, his spirit will live on in the memories we hold, the love he gave, and the legacy of kindness, laughter, and light he leaves behind.
