Jack Kehler of Pittsburg, CA passed away on December 8, 2023. Jack was born on January 14, 1949, to John & Elizabeth Kehler in Phillipsburg, PA. They moved to Pittsburg, CA along with his two brothers in 1953 where they initially resided on Army Street and later moved to Marsh Avenue.

Jack graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1967, he was an avid wrestler during High School & could be found cruising down Railroad on a Friday night with his many friends.  It was the Vietnam war era and before he could be drafted, he joined the US Marine Corps because he was that guy... All American, tough and smart.  After his 1st tour in Vietnam he volunteered for a 2nd tour to be with his Band of Brothers who became his 2nd family in Vietnam and forevermore.

Jack worked for the Pacific Railroad Co, U.S. Steel for a short period, Manager at Safeway for 25 years then Liquor Barn before taking over/owning his ex-in laws famous deli in Fresno "Primo's Deli".  Jack flourished at the Deli which served the greater area of Fresno State college. After the financial crash of the mid-2000's, Jack had to let the Deli go, moved back to Pittsburg to help take care of his Mother and worked another 10 years at Pittsburg's Steel Mill before falling ill in 2013 to a very rare condition that could be related to his exposures on the front lines in Vietnam.   He remained strong however, even as Alzheimer's set in.  He continued to drive up to the year 2020 and with his dog, walked 2 – 5 miles a day after that. He was tough, he defied all odds of his illness and often had Dr's shaking their heads.  He remained home in Pittsburg then moved to Fresno in June of 2023 to live with his daughter and Grandson where he was able to spend his last months with the pride and joys of his life, his children and grandchildren and of course his dog Stella.

Jack is survived by his daughter Christy Kehler of Clovis, CA and son John Kehler (Natalie) of Fresno, CA; brothers- Ronald Kehler (Natalia) of Las Vegas, NV & David Kehler (Val) of Pittsburg, CA and a sister, Melody Baugh (Sam) of Pittsburg, CA with special mention of his grandson & caretaker Andrew Aguirre. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and his companion, pride and joy, American bulldog, "Stella". Jack is preceded in death by his father, John Louis Kehler, mother, Elizabeth (Bette) Kehler, brother Gregory Scott Kehler & niece, Jessica Kehler

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January, 12, 2024, at 11am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chape. Inurnment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association or Vietnam Veterans of America.
