It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jose ("Joe") Ignacio Masinas, who peacefully left us at the age of 89. He was a loving husband , father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Joe was known for his humble, kind, and generous soul.  His compassionate acts of service touched many lives of family and friends.

Joe was born on August 28, 1934 in Manila, Philippines to parents Gonzalo (deceased) and Felicidad (deceased) Masinas. He was the second eldest brother of nine children, Michael (deceased), Zenaida (deceased), Rudolfo, Lydia, William, Merlie (deceased), Evangeline, and Robert. He graduated high school in the Philippines and then immigrated to the United States with his entire family in 1952 aboard the David C. Shank military ship. They settled in Pittsburg, CA.

He served in the US Air Force and during one of his trips home to Pittsburg, he met Frances by introduction from his mother. They married in 1960 and had two sons. He spent a significant part of his career working at the VA hospital in maintenance and facilities. Upon retirement, he was still active and spent many years driving for Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, CA.

Joe is survived by his current wife Mildred Ermita, two sons Joseph and Sandy, daughter in-law Amalia, grandchildren Joseph Jr., Jose and Gabriel, great grandchildren Alani, Antonio, Janae, and Janel, and great great grandson baby King.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and love for his family. He also loved architecture, arts/crafts, gardening, and a passion for dancing with the Filipiniana Dance Troupe. Joe had a bright warm smile, humble demeanor, and positively impacted those he loved. He will truly be missed.
