José Efraín Rodríguez, a treasured and respected pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Pittsburg, California, at the age of 80. Born on June 25, 1945, in Barrio Encarnación, Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, to Fidencio Rodriguez, Sr. and Isabel Roman de Rodriguez (family orignally from the Barrio Quebradas, Guayanilla, Puerto Rico), José's life was a testament to resilience, hard work, devotion to his faith, and boundless love for his family. José was preceded in death by his father, Fidencio Rodríguez, Sr.; mother, Isabel Román de Rodríguez; brothers Gabriel José Rodríguez, Jorge Rodríguez and Fidencio Rodríguez, Jr.; and sisters Noemí Guadalupe and Isabel Rivera.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Socorro Rodríguez and his proud children Gabriel José Rodríguez and Yesenia Isabel Román. He was a cherished father-in-law to Luis Antonio Román, Sr. and a doting grandfather to Luis Antonio Román, Jr., Nayeli Socorro Román, Abraham José Román, and twins Ivelisse Mercedes Román, and Ivan Gabriel Román. He is also survived by his siblings Guillermo Rodríguez, Prudencio Rodríguez, Ruth Rodríguez, and Loida Pérez, as well as a host of in-laws, godchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

José arrived in Pittsburg, California, in 1952 at the age of seven. He built a life for himself through dedication and hard work, beginning his career picking fruits and nuts in Brentwood and Oakley areas. His career path led him through various roles, from working at Pittsburg Steel Mill, to being a property manager for Sol Berg Properties and Los Medanos Realty, to owning "Rodriguez Janitorial Services". He served diligently as a groundskeeper for over 20 years at the "Church of the Good Shepherd and Parish Hall" and dedicated his spare time to his church, "Templo Cristiano".

His faith was a cornerstone of his life. He contributed significantly to his church community, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Lead Usher, Elder, and member of the Men's Ministries Group. His dedication continued even when his church changed to "Centro Cristiano Casa de Luz" and later to "Calvary Temple", now known as the "Bay Church". An individual of many accomplishments, José was the first in his family to graduate high school and proud owner of his own business and home. His greatest achievement, however, was his loving family and the home filled with warmth and laughter they built together.Jose's sense of humor, warm smile, and compassionate heart brought joy to all who knew him. He was deeply proud of his family name and Puerto Rican roots, and his devotion to his faith and family were unwavering.

A Celebration of Life will be held on  Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 12:00 pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel . Following the service, Jose will be laid to rest at Oak View Memorial Park, 2500 E 18th St, Antioch, CA 94509.

José will be profoundly missed by family and friends. His legacy of hard work, love for his family, and devotion to his faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to have known him. His laughter, wisdom, and love will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him, ensuring his memory lives on.
