Joe was known to many as Pepe and was raised in Pittsburg. He is survived by (leaves a) his daughter Pamela (Martinez Garnett), grand-daughter Sunny (Garnett)and son David and his wife Patti. Joe's wife Julia preceded him in death in 2003 as did his grand-daughter Lauren and his great-grandchildren, Kailee and Cameron in 2005. For the past 6 years Joe has been lovingly cared for in his home by Kathy, Gordon, and Angelina Johnson.
A memorial gathering will be held at a place and time TBD. The family requests that donations be made to, La Casa de los Niños, P.O. Box 1355, Sebastopol, CA 95473. La Casa is a children's enrichment project in Mexico, developed as a memorial to Joe's grand-daughter and family.
