Joseph Bega Rio, 81, passed away Sunday in his daughter's home. Joe was born in San Leandro, CA. He graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco. Joe married Priscilla June Rio in 1954.
Joe was a reserve in the U.S. Navy. In his early days he worked at Soso Macaroni Products in San Francisco making pasta and he was also a foreman making fireplace screens for Fred Meyer of California. He later became a sales and service man for Contra Costa Fire Equipment with his son Dino Rio.
Joe is survived by his wife June and their children: Debbie Redding (Tom), Joe D. Rio (Carole), Dino Rio (Janet); 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Annie Goodrich of Clearlake; Mercy Guardino of Roseville; brother, Johnny Rio of Fremont.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5-8pm Funeral service on Friday, September 23, 2106 at 10:30am both days at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery Brentwood.
