Joe was born in Cowell, CA and graduated from Alhambra High School. He served In the National Guard and US Army. Joe worked as a commercial fisherman, and at Fiberboard (LP) for over 30 Years and retired from the City of Pittsburg. Joe umpired slow pitch and fast pitch softball for 25 years for Pittsburg and Antioch. He refereed basketball for the City of Pittsburg. He was the President of the Pulp and Paper Workers Union and the President of the Citizens Football Committee of Pittsburg.
Joe is survived by his wife Marilyn, his children, Joette (Kirk), Joey, Mark, and Martin (Theresa). Step-children, Michelle Fanucchi, Sandy McGee (Terry), Mike Hall (Patti) 18 grand-children, 10 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, many nieces, and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Mary, parents, one sister, and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm. Funeral services Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00am both days at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Committal service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
