Juan Gonzalez passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, following a battle with renal disease. He touched everyone he met with his bright smile and infectious spirit.
Juan was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He came to Pittsburg in 1968 to work for Jack Smario. Soon after bringing his family from Mexico in 1974, he opened his own business, Juan's Tailor Shop, in Walnut Creek. He was always involved in his family's education and even served as president of the bilingual program for the PUSD.
Juan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria De Jesus; 11 devoted children, 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria and Amelia and all of his siblings. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday October 6, 2014 from 5-7pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. A rosary will follow. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at St. Peter Marty Church in Pittsburg.
