Judith Lee O'Connor, known to those who knew her well as Judy, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2021 with family at her side.  

  Judy was born on May 16, 1944 and grew up in the town of Kent, Ohio. She graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School and attended both Bohecker's Business College and Kent State University. Judy raised three sons in Kent, during which time she was active in Saint Patrick's Catholic Church and the Newman Center. She was also involved in the American Field Service (AFS) Program and opened her home to students from Spain and Turkey.  

  After raising her family, Judy moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and enjoyed a 25-year professional career in the Executive Administrative area. During this time, she was very active in the International Association of Administrative Professionals.  

  In 2010, Judy retired and moved to Pittsburg, California. She is best known locally for her work at the Railroad Book Depot, where she has been a fixture and guiding light since its opening. Judy put down deep roots in the Pittsburg community, acting as a charter member of the Edgewater Church, serving as a member of the Pittsburg Community Advisory Committee for three years, volunteering at city events, and supporting local businesses such as Steeltown.  

  Judy loved music and the written word. She also loved the many cats that kept her company over the years. But she considered her children and grandchildren to be her proudest accomplishments. Judy was an incredible dynamo who brought energy and determination to everything she touched.  

  Judy was preceded in death by her parents Patrick Holland and Frances (O'Connor) Holland, her husband James Lee O'Connor, and her grandson Michael Hayden Schwartz. She is survived by her three sons and ten grandchildren.  

  A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 2:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the Railroad Book Depot to continue her remembrance. Those wishing to honor her memory are asked to donate to the Pittsburg Community Theater in lieu of sending flowers using the link below.
