Obituary

Justo C. Ramiro Jr., 97, a 40-year resident of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born on April 29, 1927, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, to Justo and Ricarda Ramiro, he was affectionately known as Junior.

Junior earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Adamson University in Manila, Philippines. After graduation, he joined the Philippine Army, serving with distinction and rising from Lieutenant to Captain. His dedication to public service continued as an educator of Chemistry and Math at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio, Philippines. Following his military career, Junior became a correctional warden in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.

In 1973, he immigrated to the United States as a professional, initially leaving his family behind to pave the way for better opportunities for them to join him later. Junior built his career at Bank of America, primarily at the Powell Branch in San Francisco, where he advanced to the position of Bank Officer. He later moved into a corporate financing role before retiring after 25 years of dedicated service.  After retiring, Junior returned to his passion for education, obtaining his real state license and worked for the Pittsburg Unified District as a substitute teacher.

He will be remembered as a man of wisdom, humor, and unwavering discipline. Faith, family, courage, honesty, and education were his guiding principles, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Junior was a devoted family man, preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elvira, and sons Pompei and Peter. He leaves behind his children: Roberto, Leilani, Fred, and Judi; daughters-in-law: Evelyn, Zeny, and Joan; sons-in-law: Sonny and Macio; grandchildren: Leora, Michael, Clifford, Jeffrey, Justin, Steven, Jordan, Lawrence, and Royce; grandchildren-in-law: Bo, Rose Ann, and Chris; and great-grandchildren: Nico and Ryder.
