Obituary

Kay Curry passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26. For the past 7-1/2 years she resided at Tampico Terrace Assisted Living, Walnut Creek. Previously, Kay had been a resident of San Jose, CA since 1946. Born Mary Kathaleen Leslie in Ashland, KY. At 18, shortly after her high school graduation, her mother Daisy Leslie, a registered nurse, moved them both from Columbus, Ohio to Hollywood, CA to help care for Kay's older brother Bill who was injured serving as a Marine in WWII. Daisy worked as a nurse while Kay found a career as a dental hygienist.
Kay met Walther H. Curry, a handsome, tall Naval Officer in 1946, married that year on December 22, and moved to Walt's parent's 60-acre fruit ranch in San Jose. They built a beautiful home in the middle of the walnut orchard and raised three children, Leslie, Bill, and Roxanne.
In 1960, they built and managed The Rock Canyon Club on Penetencia Creek Rd. in San Jose, which now (along with the 60-acre fruit ranch) is a subdivision.
Kay was an avid reader, loved any genre of music (especially opera), and had a great sense of humor.
Kay is survived by her daughters, Leslie K. Curry of Salem, OR and Roxanne G. Pardi (Herc) of Clayton CA. Grandchildren: Noah Bekofsky (Angela), Ember Bekofsky, Sheth Bekofsky (Amy Patrick), and Meghan Pardi, great grandchildren: Noah Bekofsky Jr., Mackenzie Bekofsky, and Kalel Bekofsky. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter, son Bill, and brother William Leslie.
There will be a private family service per her request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to: Clayton Theatre Co. P.O. Box 991, Clayton, CA 94517.
