Kathyrn Rose Siino Beratta passed away on September 20, 2024, at her home in Antioch, California.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Kathy was surrounded by many of those close to her in the few short weeks that followed her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in July. She was 74 years old.
The oldest of six siblings, Kathy grew up in Pittsburg where she attended St. Peter Martyr School from first through ninth grade. She then attended Pittsburg High School, from which she graduated in 1968. Her many friends from St. Peter and Pittsburg High remained close to her throughout her life. Kathy immediately began working after graduation for the Pittsburg Unified School District and became the mainstay in the school psychology office until retiring in 2005.
A caring and faith-filled woman, Kathy served as a volunteer teacher of Catholic education (CCD) in St. Peter Martyr Parish for years and sang in Pittsburg's Church of the Good Shepherd choir in the 1960s and 70s. Throughout her life, she organized both St. Peter Martyr and Pittsburg High reunions for her classmates, and often volunteered at and contributed to events for St. Peter Martyr School, which both her children and grandchildren attended. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and to Twain Harte with her family, hosting social gatherings, and simply being with loved ones. In addition to an insatiable love for singer Johnny Mathis, Kathy enjoyed crocheting and occasionally trying her luck at the casinos. Although Kathy never struck it rich gambling, her life was rich with people who adored her.
Kathy is survived by Mark, her husband of 51 years; her children, Kristin Mattingly (Jonathan) and Daniel (Tina) of Antioch; her grandchildren Anthony Joseph, Alysse, Ella and Kaitlyn, and four of her siblings: Anthony M. Siino and Joseph F. Siino of Antioch; Thomas V. Siino (Linda) of Alamo; and Rosanne M. Siino (Marla) of Kensington.  She also will be greatly missed by her nephews Steven and Brendon Siino of Alamo. She was preceded in death by her sister Marianne T. Siino of Antioch.
A memorial funeral liturgy for Kathy will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Ignatius of Antioch.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kathy's memory to St. Peter Martyr School, 425 West Fourth Street, Pittsburg CA 94565.
