Katina Kekos was born on February 20, 1953, in Zakynthos, Greece, to Andreas and Maria Kalogerias. In May of 1956, she was adopted by Dionysios (Dennis) and Angelica (Koula) Burlessas and raised in Pittsburg, California, a place she would forever hold close to her heart.

In 1974, Katina met Antonios (Tony) Kekos of Zakynthos, Greece. Their love story came full circle when they were married on July 17, 1977, at St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church in her beloved Pittsburg. Together, Katina and Tony built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.

Katina was a devoted mother to her two sons, Angelo Kekos (Kelly) and Dionysios Kekos (Erin). Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her four cherished grandchildren: Antonios (Tony) and Carolena, children of Angelo and Kelly, and Charles and Antonios, children of Dionysios and Erin. She delighted in every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their lives.

She is also survived by her beloved brothers, Spiros Peritos (Vaso) and Panagiotis Kalogerias (Georgia), and her nieces and nephews: Andreas, Pavlos, Petros, Maria, Christina, Anastasia, and Andreas. Katina was also a loving theia to many others, including Tim, George, Nikoletta, Demetri, Dionysios, and many more who were blessed to know her warmth and care.

Katina dedicated her professional life to serving the students of Pittsburg, working for many years as both a classroom and office assistant. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering support touched countless lives.

A proud Greek, Katina was a friend to everyone she met. Her friendships extended widely throughout Pittsburg, the Greek community, and beyond. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, theia, and friend, someone whose generosity, loyalty, and love left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.

To honor Katina's faith, the family welcomes donations to St. Demetrios Church's St. Dionysios Center in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 5:00 pm with a trisagion service at 6:00 pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
