"Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings." On Christmas morning, bells were ringing brightly---Kevin Joe Mendoza Dalmacio, our beloved angel on earth, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2014 from a cardiac arrest.

Born 3 months early on April 15, 1993, Kevin rocked an extra chromosome and showed such tenacity for someone only 2 pounds 3.5 ounces 15 inches. Against all odds he was discharged after a 3 month journey through 3 hospitals beginning in San Jose, CA and ending in Oakland, CA. Even after his homecoming, Kevin experienced 5 ambulance rides to the hospital only to bounce back with a stronger thirst for life.

His wonderful life of 21 years was led by his many passions---education, music, fashion, sports, and altar serving. Kevin first stepped onto a school bus at 3 years old and he was hooked. He never wanted to miss a day of school and even when school ended you would find him at the kitchen table diligently copying down definitions from his favorite dictionary. Kevin graduated from Concord High School and was well on his way to transitioning into adulthood through the Loma Vista Bridge Program. School enabled Kevin to express his passion for music through talent shows in which Kevin boldy rapped, sang, and danced. He continued this passion at home with karaoke, Wii Rock Band and an acoustic guitar. With all this musical flair, Kevin was bound to have a keen sense of fashion. He had a fine collection of jerseys, hats and plenty of sneakers to match that would make even Imelda Marcos jealous. The shoes came in handy for when he would play basketball. Many memories were made on basketball courts at school and at the park, watching the NBA with his father, and playing PS3 with his brother. Another sport that would unite the Dalmacio men was bowling in which Kevin excelled and was known for throwing a mean hook. It was to no surprise that he participated in the Special Olympics: NorCal Bowling Division. He was a regular at Delta Bowl in Antioch, CA where many of his legendary stories began such as the day he beat a professional bowler. However, his ultimate pride and joy was his involvement with altar serving at Our Lady Queen of the World Church in Pittsburg, CA. Since he was 7 years old, Kevin served at the altar with reverence, attention, and love, and this was evident to all---a recognition award was given from the bishop for his many years of loyal service. Ultimately, Kevin stayed true to his many passions and therefore, he knew what he loved and who he was. He was both a confident and humble soul that turned ordinary days into extraordinary ones.

Kevin is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Emily, and brother, Jerome, of Pittsburg, CA. He is also survived by a large extended family that resides in the Bay Area, Southern California, and Philippines---18 aunts and uncles on his father's side and 12 aunts and uncles on his mother's side. Altogether, Kevin is survived by 46 first cousins, all of whom he treated as siblings. He had such a generous heart and radiated so much charisma that it was inevitable for him to make friends wherever he went. Kevin's loving, gentle spirit will be missed by all that crossed his path.

Friends and family are invited to a 6:30pm Vigil on Sunday, January 4, 2015, and a 10:00am Funeral Mass on Monday, January 5, 2015. Both services will be held at Our Lady Queen of the World Church, 3155 Winterbrook Drive, Bay Point, CA 94565-3264. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 East 18th Street, Antioch, CA 94509.
