Mrs. Kim Lynette Yates - Glasper was born on Friday June 14, 1957 in Springfield Ohio. She was the third child and daughter to Thomas Yates and Dorleen Florence Craig of Ohio. During the 1960's Mr. Thomas Yates moved his to California and settling in Pittsburg on Williams way, where he and Mrs. Yates raised all five of their children. Rosayln, Thomas (Kevin), Kimberly, Titus and Dorinda.

Kim attended Pittsburg public school and graduated from Pittsburg High school in 1975. She loved sports and was passionate about track field. Upon graduating she began working at Continental Can during the summer and at age nineteen on August 13, 1976 she began a career at Fry's grocery store in Antioch CA, and four years later became their number one cake decorator in the bakery department. She would be called upon to decorate cake from Reno to San Jose because she was very thorough and very detailed about her craft and the company knew it. After twenty four years with Fry's / Save Mart grocery stores she retired from the Pittsburg Save Mart. She took the test to become an Airline stewardess / Flight attendant with South West Airlines and passed, but came up short on her final week of the sound identifying test or she would have been a South West employee. That was one of her passions because she loved to travel in the states or international with her "Ride or Die " Gwen.

Not to be discouraged Kim began her second career working with a supervisor who is her best friend and "Third sister "for life, Miss Gwendolyn Saxon at the Martinez County Elections Department for the next twenty years. These two have been inseparable since elementary and they always were there for each other no matter what. They loved and cared for each other as well as their children and each other's grandchildren. The two both could dress, dance, cook, clean and wasn't afraid to work a 9 to 5 and several times worked 10 and 12 hour shift, that's called leading by example.  After retiring from the Elections department Kim would go visit family and friends. She would visit Mrs. Yates Roz, Chat, Ilana, Mama Sandi, Paul Glasper Sr. and of course Gwen just to check on them to make sure they were ok.

As a mother Kim was the amazing to her son Darrell McDonald Jr. But as a grandmother to her Thirteen grandchildren Ilana, Lilly, Cordae, Cohen, Carson, Carissa, Dax, Adrian, Isaiah, Noah, Aaron Jr. Aaliya and Aalija she was and still is the Greatest. It was her mission the they all received gifts and or $$$ for their birthdays, Christmas, graduations, attend and support their sports events and most of all talk with them and show and tell them that she loved them.

Kim would always brag about how great of a cook her sister Roslyn was, and that everything she baked or cook was done to perfection, especially her Red velvet cake. She would say that her sister Dorinda  (Chat) was very creative in decorating, whether It's furnishing a house, formal event or just having 25 dollars she could put together a five course meal. Her brother Kevin was her real life super hero, because the was very agile, muscular and very much into the Marvel characters. Such as Hulk, Thor, Fantastic Four and many more. She would say what was so cool about Kevin is that he could imitate the sounds they made perfectly. She adored her mother for being such a hard worker. She would say  " I don't know how mama do it, driving over Kirker pass daily to work at Safeway in Walnut Creek she has to have the patience of Job " Then there's her father Mr. Thomas Yate who she thought the world of, she said because he taught how to survive in life. When he taught her how to drive he told her that she was going to learn how to drive a stick " 4 on the floor and 3 in the tree " because anyone could drive  a standard automatic. He would also take her and his other children to work with him as children to instill in them the importance of having a job and being self-sufficient.

Kim's hobbies included Spending time with her grandchildren, Reading, Bowling, Dance Aerobics, Walking, Cooking, Baking, Traveling, Watching Family Feud, Judge Judy,  Black–ish …( She would laugh so hard when watch this sit- com until tears were runningdown her face and she would get stomach cramps.) Women's Tennis, Women's Gymnastics and Women's College Basketball. Pro and College Football. Her favorite College football team was the Ohio state Buckeyes who  just won the National Championship,she was so happy. Live Concerts and Listening to Smooth Jazz, and artist such as Peabo, Keith Washington, Luther, Freddy Jackson, Jaheim, Bruno Mars, Maxwell, CeCe Winan Patti LaBelle, Alicia Keys, Her,

Jeffery Osbourn and Project 4 band to name a few, and Clothe shopping. Kim could and would dress with the best, most of the time she was the best dressed without even trying. You would never see her out in public unkept, that was something she took great pride in and the was her appearance. She would tell her sister Dorinda " Sis I have to go out and represent "  One of her favorite hobbies was dancing, Kim danced and could danced better than most who were fourty years younger than her, she always had rhythm and style.

Kim was a very classy woman but low key, she was the type of person who you loved to see coming and hate to see leave. Her vibe was very unique and loving, her laughter was contagious she was very nurturing and possessed a welcoming heart.  For most of her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends grandchildren., If she wasn't there the day that they were born she made it there the very next day.

Now for those who would like to hear about my family, friends and loved ones…. I am  prececed in death by my father Thomas Yates, my amazing brother Thomas (Kevin) Yates and my nephew Craig " Huggie " Gipson.

I am survived by  my Mother Dorleen Yates of Antioch, CA my husband Gerald Glasper of Pittsburg , CA, my sisters Rosayln Gipson-Lane, of Antioch CA, Dorinda " Chat" Robinson of S.F., CA brother Titus Yates of Martinez, CA and my son Darrell McDonald of Camron Park, CA and Thirteen lovely grandchildren

In addition I leave my mother- in-law Sandi Glasper of Houston, TX my brother- in- law Ollie Robinson of S.F., CA brother- in- law- Craig Lane of Antioch, CA sister- in-law Rhonda Yates of Martinez CA, daughter- in – law Rachel McDonald and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces , nephews, cousins and many, many, wonderful friends and associates.
