Obituary

Larry Dale Cooper peacefully left this world at age 75 on May 5, 2023. He was born March 26, 1948, to Hattie Mae Estes and Ernest Clifton Cooper. Growing up in Port Chicago, CA, Larry attended Pacific High and graduated from Clayton Valley High School. After graduation, he eventually landed his career job at BART where he worked for 37 years. His weekends were spent coaching for JOBL and barbequing for West Pittsburg Youth Football. Larry and his wife Carole lived in Oakley for the last two years, moving there from Concord and Bay Point to be closer to the grandchildren.

Upon retiring, he spent his time doing what he loved most; bowling, spending time with his grandchildren, walking his dogs, watching the Giants and Warriors games, and Grit TV with John Wayne.

Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carole, and his five children Deanna Marsh (spouse Spencer), Kristina Martin (spouse Chris), Larry Jr. (spouse Amanda), Natalie Heredia (spouse Marco), and Matthew (spouse Alexis). Larry was a proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Kelly, John, Gannon, Kinsley, Zoe, Carson, Ellie, and Hudson. Larry has numerous surviving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Larry was well known for his love of bowling, spending time with his family and willingness to help others, Larry will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held in Concord at Clayton Valley Bowl on Thursday May 11 from 12:00-3:00pm (open house style) for family, friends, bowlers, coworkers who knew and loved Larry. Please come join us for bowling and food to celebrate Larry. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Larry's name to The American Heart Association.
