Obituary

Leo Joseph Dirckx gently passed away in his sleep of natural cause February 24, 2021 at the age of 88. Born August 5,1932 to Leo Jules Dirckx and Dina (Lens) Dirckx on a farm in Ghent MN. He was the eldest of 10 children. He graduated from Lynd High School in 1950. In 1952 he enlisted in the US Navy serving during the Korean War till 1956. While stationed in California he meet and married "Angie" Eva Angeline Furhman in 1955. They made their home back to Mendota MN. In1957 they moved to California. From this union they had Patrick, Anna, Denise, Carol, Joesph.  Leo eventually worked for Dow Chemical. He was a member of the latex department. After 34 years of loyal service to the Dow Chemical Company he retired in July 1993. He spent 70 years as a Knight of Columbus and was a 4th degree member. He also was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Pittsburg Moose Lodge and dedicated to his religious beliefs attending the church of St. Ignatius.  He didn't miss the Minnesota weather but like telling the story of having to walk to school in those miserable winters. Once out in California he enjoyed camping especially at Fort Bragg. Learning to abalone dive and eventually getting a boat to fish and crab. Always making a trip back home in Minnesota where he still had family. He was a dedicated hard working family man. He divorced and married Jean Murphy.
Leo leaves behind his eldest daughter Anna Davis, daughter Denise (Greg) Hamlin, son Joseph (Mary) Dirckx. His brothers Ferd Dirckx, Vincent (Linda) Dirckx, Richard Dirckx, Greg (Judy) Dirckx, sisters, Bernie (Bob) Decock, Clare (Doug). Grandsons Michael (Joshilyn) Howe, Joseph (Jennifer) Dirckx, Joshua Davis, Eva Vint, Matthew Vint. Great granddaughters Gracie Howe, Abby Howe,Raelynn Dirckx, Heidi Vint. Greatgrandson Braydon Dirckx. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Sharon (Jim) Turner, stepson Gary (Kathy) Murphy, step grandchildren David Turner, Robert Turner, Brain Turner, Tiffany Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Kyle, Murphy, Stacy Murphy. Step great granchildren Logan Young, Jacob Turner, Grayson Murphy and Arya Comfort. He is preceded in death by his parents Leo Dirckx, and Dina Dirckx, brothers Charles (Chuck) Dirckx, Dave Dirckx, sister Mary Furhman. His son Patrick Dirckx, daughter Carol Dirckx and his wife Jean Dirckx
Visitation will be he held on Tuesday,  March 9, 2021 from 9:30am to 11:30am Funeral liturgy  following at St. Ignatius of Antioch at 12:00pm. Committal services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
