Leonard Thomas, 73, passed away April 8, 2012. He was a native and 48 year resident of Antioch. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1956 and University of San Francisco in 1978 with a BA degree. Leonard was a member of the law enforcement for over 25 years serving both the California Highway Patrol and Bart PD. He retired from the Bart PD in 1994. He also worked 30 years, for H&R Block and served his community in various careers as well as Military service. Leonard was a member of the Pittsburg Elks Lodge 1474 and St. Ignatius of Antioch Church. He was an avid bocce player and enjoyed trips to Italy were he made many friends. Leonard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Earlene Thomas, sister Teresa Sullivan, brothers James Thomas (Fran), Ed Thomas and Don Cottier; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Thomas and father Jim Thomas. Friends and family are invited to visitation today April 11, 2012 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
