Lloyd Edwards passed away peacefully on Saturday at Diamond Ridge Health Center in Pittsburg after a short term respiratory illness. Lloyd was born in Santa Clara, Ca and was the eldest of 7 siblings.
After serving from 1942-1945 in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Lloyd married Imojean (Pat) Murphy on Jan 10, 1948.
Lloyd was a truck Driver and Dispatcher for Texaco, Inc. for many years. Taking an early retirement and working another 18 years as a custodian for the Antioch Unified School District. After retiring, Lloyd gave 12 years of his time dedicated to helping others by keeping the Pittsburg Food Pantry well stocked to feed the less fortunate. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent de Paul Society through the Church of the Good Shepherd for many years.
Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Susan Taber (Glenn), Cathy Skinner (Jerry), Cyndi Stanley (Jody), his sister Vivian Beatty, brother Tom Edwards, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife Imojean (Pat) Edwards and his son Paul J. Edwards, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Family and friends are invited for a visitation Thursday, Jan 30, 2014 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, Jan 31, 2014 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
