On March 12 ^th , 2018 Louvenia was diagnosed with Stage 2 Pancreatic Cancer. Despite persevering through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, major surgery, and 6 weeks of radiation, on December 10 ^th , 2019 doctors discovered a new tumor and the cancer had spread to her liver. At this point, she opted for no further treatment. She spent the rest of her days traveling and visiting family. On March 10 ^th , 2019 Louvenia passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Louvenia was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She and her twin sister were born to the late Richard and Elma Franklin at 5:24 pm on August 31 ^st , 1947 in Charity Hospital. In 1965, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.

Wanting a better life, in 1971, Louvenia moved from New Orleans to San Francisco, California. She eventually landed a job at San Francisco General Hospital where she worked as a Ward Clerk for 37 years. During these years she also lived in San Jose, Ca and retired in 2009 while living in Antioch, Ca.

Louvenia loved to travel, crochet baby blankets, play black-jack, and cooking up a huge pot of gumbo. Caring for her daughter Melvenia was of the upmost importance to her.

Louvenia leaves to cherish her memory:  sister, Frances Ward; brother, Anthony Franklin (Linda, wife); son, Willie Thomas (Asami, wife); daughters Trenise Wilkins and Melvenia Thomas; grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, Mathew Thomas, Isaiah Thomas, Sora Thomas, William T. Wilkins and Ariana Wilkins; great grandsons, Spencer and Micah; great granddaughter, Isabella   and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and longtime friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, March 23 ^rd , 2019 at 12:15 pm Olivet Memorial Park.
