Obituary

Lucy Romero, age 83, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019. She was born May 10, 1936 in Pittsburg, California. Lucy is survived by her husband, Edward Romero; children, Martha Romero (Rey Trevino), Valerie Lopez (Daniel Lopez), Richard Romero (Melanie Romero), and Teena Romero; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cathy Mendoza (Tati), Jessie Hernandez, Joe Garcia, and Alice Flores (Cha-Cha). Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, Tiburcio and Guadalupe Garcia; brothers, Frank Garcia and Salvador Torres; children, Rosie Romero and Baby Richard; and great-granddaughter, Ameeya McDonald.

Lucy and Edward were happily married for 65 years and resided in Pittsburg where they raised their children and 25 foster children. Lucy volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader, a teachers aid, and loved to contribute to her community. She attended and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1954, in Lucy's high school years she was a cheerleader and the President of the Girls Athletic Association. Lucy loved to attend the Friday night football games admiring all of her children that went to Pittsburg High, this love continued when her grandchildren played football, cheered, or played for the famous Pittsburg High School Marching Show Band.

Lucy's attachment for watching her children and grandchildren did not stop at football games, any chance she had, she would be rooting for her children at various sporting events. Lucy retired as a security guard, where she worked for over 15 years at the Shell Refinery.

Lucy Romero's end of life celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019 at 11am at St. Peter Martyr Catholic Church, following mass the family would like to invite you to join them at the Pittsburg Yacht Club.
