Luis James "LJ" Medina, 42, of Pittsburg, passed away unexpectedly at home, on April 4, 2022. LJ was born on November 6, 1979 to Nicolas and Margaret Medina in Walnut Creek, CA.

LJ was raised in Pittsburg, California and grew up in the Parkside neighborhood. He attended First Baptist Headstart, Parkside Elementary, Hillview Jr High and finally Pittsburg High School where he graduated in 1997 with a 4.0 gpa. LJ attended catechism and mass with his family at St. Peter Martyr and Church of the Good Shepherd.

After graduation LJ worked various construction, carpentry and landscaping jobs. He loved fishing with his father and spent many hours each week at the delta trying to catch the big one! When not fishing or working you could find LJ spending time with friends and family, cooking fish, playing dominoes, enjoying a cold one, BBQing, or just hanging out trying to make you laugh.

LJ was preceded in death by his father Nicolas Medina, aunts and uncles Alicia Leaños, Fidel Medina, Maria de Jesus Jimenez Medina, Maria de Rosario Medina, Jose Luis Medina, Roy Roberts, James Roberts and godmother Belinda Packer. LJ leaves to cherish his memory his mother Margaret, brother Nicolas (Melissa), sisters Rashawnda Lanham (Ross), Raquel and Daisy Labao (Jon). Nieces and nephews Maria, Mateo, Havanna, Jose, Lorelai, Gabriella, Kenai, Gianna, Isaiah, and Josephine. Girlfriend of 17 years Rachel Ostling of Grants Pass, Oregon. Her daughters Sarah, Brittany and Katie. There was also a special place in his heart for Rachel's grandsons Brody, Connor and Turtle Claws whom referred to him as "Pop".  As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2:00pm-6:00pm with a rosary at 4:00pm. Chapel blessing will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00am both at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
