Marcelino Rosado Sr., was born on August 9th,1944, in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico to Esther Fernandez and Roman Rosado.

Marcelino was soon baptized and was blessed to grow up in a religious home. He attended primary schools in his hometown and at the age of 17 along with his mom, decided to move to Connecticut for opportunities and better way life. Marcelino worked hard to learn English and find work. He had various jobs including working at the Aunt Jemina pancake house, Prentice Corporation and General Electric Plant. In 1963, Marcelino met Petra while attending night school where they both were learning English. After 3 months of a whirlwind courtship, they married on January 25, 1964, and were blessed with their first son Marcelino Jr. In 1967 their union was blessed with their 2nd son Jose. Marcelino and Petra both worked for General Electric and while still living in Connecticut had always dreamed of one day living in California. As luck would have it our parents were offered a relocation package and moved to their new home state! Upon arrival our parents connected with a new community of whom many became lifelong friends such as the Pastrana family. Our Mother and Father found a new group of friends that allowed them to stay close to their Puerto Rican roots. Marcelino quickly realized that commuting to San Jose was not easy with a young family at home and eventually got a job at Johnsmanville in Pittsburg. After a few years in California, the Rosado family were blessed with daughters Lourdes and Marce and son Michael.

The Rosado family flourished while living in Pittsburg. Marcelino was a great athlete, was heavily involved with his children and subsequently passed his athletic skills on to his children. In 1976 our parents moved to their new house on Chelsea Way and installed a professional basketball court. Our home was a hub for all the neighborhood kids. Marcelino coached the local children and was well known for his passion, dedication and playing by the rules.

Marcelino was a giving man who would do anything for anyone such as feed and clothe the homeless, feed stray dogs from the trunk of his car, gave generously to expecting mothers and opening his home to those in need. Marcelino was a unique combination of strength, gentleness and compassion towards all. He was always ready to lend a hand with a deep, unwavering love for family and friends.

Our Dad enjoyed the simple things in life, he was happiest when he was with his beloved family and grandkids. He had a way of making each person feel special. He loved playing with the kids, talking, and shopping for his grandkids and would often visit bringing donuts, Mexican pastries, toys, clothes, or food. Marcelino was always a sharp dresser, and you could smell his great choice in cologne from the moment he walked in the room. He enjoyed playing cards, reading the newspaper, watching baseball, going to the horse races, and eating dinner at CAP's and visiting with his great friend Jimmy. He enjoyed buying and fixing classic cars, including his prized Dodge Charger a 1953 Buick Skylark, a 1963 Cadillac, a 1960 Nomad and his skyblue T-Bird to name a few.

On September 10th 2023, Our Heavenly Father called Marcelino home at the age of 79. Marcelino is survived by his sons Jose and Michael, daughters Lourdes (Arnold), Marce (Billy) and 2 stepsons Anthony & Eric Verducci. Grandkids, James, Ashlee (Fred), Jose Jr., Sasha, Angelique (Devin), Anthony, Cameron, Julian, Leilani, Isiah, Marisela, Marcelino III, Michael Jr and Xavier. Great grandkids, Noah, Bentlee, Livia, Pierre, Kenzo, Khyden, Ariyah and Ameenah Rose. He leaves behind his sisters Carmen, Maria and Justina, brothers Miguel, Pablo, and Anibal Rosado. He is preceded in death by his son Marcelino Junior (Chirae) and his Mother Esther, Father Roman, Sister Margarita Guasp, Brothers Victor and Juan and sister Betzaida Rosado.

He also leaves behind many loved ones, nieces and nephews and friends that will miss his zest for life, his hilarious storytelling (with lots of details), his charming Puerto Rican accent and mannerisms, and his genuine interest in everyone he encountered. He was such an easy man to fall in love with, we all held him in the highest regard and love him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm with a rosary at 4:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd.
