Obituary

Margaret Dudek-Gilfether passed away suddenly on July 31st, 2017, in Concord, California, just outside of her hometown of Pittsburg.  Born in Rantoul, Illinois, in January of 1956, Maggie was the child of Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Dudek, and consummate Baker, Phyllis Gorczynski.  Youngest of three children, she understood the importance of family from an early age.  The first person to lend a helping hand to someone in need, Maggie had a soul-deep belief in spreading compassion and respect.  Whether it was buying lunch for a homeless person on the street, cooking dinner for a sick friend, or tutoring her daughter's peers in Math, Maggie was always there to help.
The last 25 years of her life Margaret spent working for Wells Fargo.  An incredibly dedicated worker, she committed much of her time to doing her job well.  Politically inclined with a liberal leaning, Maggie also volunteered for many campaigns in her lifetime, most recently for Obama and Hillary. After mourning Hillary's devastating loss in the election, Maggie was getting ready to start volunteering for the DNC in the upcoming Midterm Elections.
With a wicked sense of humor, Maggie navigated life with wink and a laugh.  The guiding light of her family, Margaret's innate strength, perseverance, and kindness could not be matched and will be greatly missed.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Gilfether, her daughter, Kerry Gilfether, and her step-daughter, Shannon McBee.
