Maria Concepcion Ortiz, 84, peacefully passed away on March 5, 2015 in her home of 61 years. She was born in Purepero Michoacán, Mexico. As a young girl she helped her parents Luis and Maria Vizcarra in their family bakery, which is still run by her family today. She often performed as a singer and entertainer in the theatre of her hometown. She portrayed the Virgin Mary in the Easter parades of Purepero, many times. She enjoyed her family bakery most of all and continued there until her marriage to Miguel in 1953. Conchita's children were often told their mother was known in Purepero as "The prettiest girl in town."
Conchita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Miguel Ortiz, son Miguel Angel Ortiz, daughters: Rosa Maria Gutierrez and Martha Eva Fernandez as well as three grandsons: Juan Carlos Gutierrez, Michael Angel Ortiz, and Victor Armando Fernandez. Five granddaughters: Colette Marie Ortiz, Angela Mae Ortiz, Jessica Maria Gutierrez, Veronica Christina Gutierrez, and Ana Krystal Fernandez, Two great grandchildren: Alyssa Breana Gutierrez and Giovanni Miguel Gutierrez. Two sons-in-law: Isidoro Gutierrez and Victor Fernandez, daughter-in-law Gloria Ortiz, and grand daughter-in-law Delene Gutierrez. Three brothers, four sisters, and several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Conchita will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving person who enjoyed making people laugh and singing her songs at parties or just whenever she wanted to. She had a great devotion to the Catholic faith and to her San Martin de Porras and La Virgen de Guadalupe.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 5:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10:00am at Our Lady Queen of the World Church, Bay Point. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
