Obituary

Mary Louise Hackley, 60, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at her home in Antioch. Mary was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in October 2010. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through these tough times. Yet, even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she always reached out to others to give support.
Mary was born on August 6, 1952 in Martinez, to Susie and Alfred Walton and raised in Pittsburg. She was the middle child and has two brothers, Paul Strazzullo and Ronnie Walton.
Mary is survived by her loving husband John Hackley, her daughter Tasha Tennison, son Michael Hackley, daughter Brianna Hackley, daughter Stacy Robbins and six grandchildren, Jessica and Jamee Robbins, Brooklynn Burnett, Francesca, Zachary and Stella Hackley.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some knew her as the "Mayor of Antioch". Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor, with grace and dignity that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
Mary was a devoted mother, wife, nana and friend to many, she will be deeply missed. We would like to send out a special thanks to Laura Brandt, our dedicated hospice nurse.
