Michael Lozares Cabihi's Obituary
Mike, age 66, passed away at home on May 19, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 29, 1951 in Oakland, CA. He grew up in Concord, CA, attending schools and graduating in 1969 from Mt. Diablo High School where he played football.
Mike married his high school sweetheart and "girl next door" Arlene (Saxberg) on October 24, 1970. Enlisting in 1971, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Mike worked as a truck driver for 38 years driving both local and 48 states. He acquired many lifelong friends. Many will remember Mike's magnetic personality and charismatic smile. He had a gift that made everyone he met, comfortable to talk with him. In retirement Mike liked fishing, camping, woodworking and just tinkering in his garage. Most of all he liked to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Arlene Cabihi of Antioch, CA; two children, Dawn (Todd) Tibbett of Antioch and their children Talia, Giana, Tru, Téa, and Ty, Dustin"Bubba" (Chantell) Cabihi of Brentwood and their children Jayden, Devin and Kendall; brothers Mark and Martin Cabihi; mother-in-law Alice Saxberg of Fresno, brother-in- laws and sister-in-laws: Janet (Mark) Cabihi of Clayton, Kent Harris of Folsom, Allan (Ruffles) Saxberg of Fresno, Sharon Heindel & Harold Vair of Idaho, George (Susie) Field of Citrus Heights, Haig (Shelly) Johnson of Placerville; his aunt Roberta and uncle Lester de Asis of Oregon, uncle Barney Lozares of Cathy's Valley; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog Pepper. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Mildred, and sister Marsha (Harris).
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 12noon at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
