Mike's life began and ended in much the same way. A premature infant he fought for his life, and as an adult he battled death despite the many challenges he had throughout his lifetime. He worked hard to make the best of life's situations.
Mike was born in Pittsburg, to the late Mike and Sophie Setencich. He was a lifelong resident of West Pittsburg. He graduated from Pacifica High School in 1971 and received an AA degree in Horticulture from Diablo Valley College. He worked for many years for the Mt. Diablo School district. He had many hobbies and interests.
Mike is survived by his sister Daria Murphy (Dennis), his twin brother Mitchel (Peggy), his nieces Michelle Newbould (Mike), Christine Montiel (Eric), Marissa Setencich, his nephew Richard Setencich, and by five great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held Saturday, March 15th at 1:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Hospice of the East Bay, or to a charity that has special meaning to you.
