Obituary

With joyful memories and a heart full of love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mildred Herschelman Seals, who went to her eternal home on November 16, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on September 24, 1948, in Manila, Philippines, she spent the first 16 years of her life in her homeland before emigrating to the United States and settling in Pittsburg, California with her parents, Eugene and Pacita Herschelman. Mildred graduated from Pittsburg High School Class of 1969 and met and married her late husband, Sam B. Seals. They went on to have two daughters Andrea Seals Arnold and Samantha Seals-Martin.

Mildred worked as a floor manager at See's Candies in San Bruno for 33 years where she joyfully drove the 50+ miles each day with all her comadres from Pittsburg, until her retirement in 2008.

As a long-time parishioner of the Church of the Good Shepherd, she dedicated her life to serving others. She is a devout Catholic and served with the Catholic Daughters and the Women's Guild.

If you knew Mildred, then you knew her spirit was filled with optimism, perseverance, laughter, and generosity. She always kept her word and would give you the shirt off her back. She found joy in caring for others and showed her love by feeding you.

For fun Mildred loved to play BINGO. You would often find her playing at the Blue Devils or attending a bingo blowout at Cache Creek. If she did not win, she would always come home saying, "At least I had a good time!"

If you asked Mildred who is the love of her life, she would tell you besides her husband, it is her four grandchildren. She lovingly cared for each grandchild, cooking their favorite foods like Fried Rice, Chicken Adobo and Sinigang, driving them to and from practices and events and teaching them to love God and respect others. She was an ever-present powerful influence in their lives.

For the past 13 years, Mildred showed incredible strength and grace as she bravely lived with breast cancer, a battle she fought with determination and unwavering faith. Despite the challenges, her favorite refrain from this time in her life was "God is Good! All the time!"

On this side of heaven, she is survived by her siblings, Millie Jose (Edgardo), Ernie Inductivo (Alice), CitaJean Lawrence (Buck), Wesley Herschelman (Jody), Teresa Moore (Robert), Peter Herschelman (Lisa), Genie Goodwin (Michael); her daughters, Andrea Seals Arnold (Edwin) and Samantha Seals-Martin; her 4 grandchildren Colby Arnold (16), Caleb Arnold (14), Abigail Martin (6) and Ariyah Martin (5) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she gave to so many.
