Obituary

Minda O'Brien Heinrichson, age 95, of Pittsburg California peacefully passed away at home on February 23, 2026.

Minda was born to Charlotte Boyd Green and George Green in Glasgow Scotland. At the age of 20, she and her mother immigrated to the United States. Minda married Joseph Charles O'Brien in 1952. They had 2 boys Joseph Scott and Gary Michael. Charlie O'Brien passed away in 1979. Many years later Minda married Robert Heinrichson.

Contra Costa County is where Minda was employed for 10 years as a food service worker in the juvenile detention facility in Martinez, CA.

Minda was an active mother involved in her son's AAU swimming careers. Later she enjoyed cheering from the stands as she watched her boys play football for Pittsburg High School. She was so proud to travel to watch her grandson Joe play for Boise State. Later in her years she loved hearing about her great grandchildern's (Haley, Tuff and Emme) many adventures.

The love for her family was fierce.  Sitting around the table after a home cooked meal, laughing and enjoying family was a highlight. In her younger years she was a valued player on a couple of bowling leagues. A few hobbies were cheering for her 49ers, as well as tending her front and backyard gardens. A lifelong source of enjoyment was playing the slot machines, which she did well into her 90's. She was also very proud of the fact that for 40 years straight (the last being just last year), she and Gary celebrated their November birthdays together traveling to Vegas, Tahoe or Reno.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Georgie and Nancy; first husband Joseph Charles O'Brien; son, Joseph Scott O'Brien; second husband, Robert Heinrichson.

She is survived by her son, Gary Michael O'Brien; grandson and spouse, Joe and Gracie O'Brien; great grandchildren, Haley Smith, Tuff O'Brien and Emme O'Brien; great great grandson Grant Smith.

A memorial service celebrating Minda's life will be held at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel Friday March 27th at 1pm.  We invite all who knew and loved Minda to join us in honoring her memory.
