Obituary

Moses Hunt Sr., passed away suddenly at the age of 66.  He was born on January 26, 1957, to Bill and Edna (Hill) Hunt. He is a native of Liberal Kansas class of '75. Moses moved to Pittsburg, CA after graduation and married Janet Houston in 1981. With that union was born two children Moses Hunt Jr., and Erica (Hunt) Leonard.  He married Eva Burgen in 1991 to whom he remained married for 33 years until his transition. To that union was born one child Tawana Hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Edna Hunt, 3 brothers, William, Andrew, and Lawrence Gene, and 2 sisters Betty Portley and Belle.
He is survived in love and memory by his wife Eva of Pittsburg, CA, his 3 children Moses of Pittsburg CA, Erica (Hunt) Leonard of Wichita KS, and Tawana Hunt of Dallas TX, 5 grandchildren, 4 siblings Joyce Johnson of Kansas City MO, Alice Love of Houston TX, Roosevelt Hunt Oklahoma City, OK, and Annette Butler of, Newton, KS as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Moses was employed as a driver for County Connection Bus Services until retirement after 25 years of service. After retiring Moses continued his passion for Christ and became the Pastor at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he served for 15 years. During his time of service, Moses helped to serve those in need through the word of God and opened a food pantry to help those in his community. Moses' greatest passion was the word of God and helping others find their way back to Christ.
Moses enjoyed his daily walk to Al's Donut shop. There you could find him sharing the gospel with friends and customers enjoying a cup of coffee. Moses spent his remaining years caring for his wife while continuing to spread the message of love and forgiveness.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00am Greater Faith Missionary Baptist 4150 Railroad Ave, Pittsburg, CA 94565. Burial following at Oak View Memorial Park in Antioch.
