Pacita "Paz" Panugaling Masanegra was born January 28, 1925 in Mantalongon, Barili, Cebu, Philippines. She was born to Tranquilino and Ana Panugaling and was in the middle of seven children.

In 1948, she married and left for the U. S. during World War II, where she settled in Pittsburg, CA. She earned her high school diploma from the Adult  Education Center in Pittsburg while working part-time for the cannery. She worked for Western California Canners, Tillie Lewis Foods and finally retired from See's Candies after her many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Masanegra; daughter, Manda Stewart;  siblings, Crescenciano, Pilar, Jose', Antonio, Felicidad; and parents, Tranquilino and Ana. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Masanegra Llaguno; her four grandchildren, Jamila Stewart, Gabriel Coan, Michelle Llaguno, Michael Llaguno; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Gabriella Garcia-Coan, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devout Catholic and always supported her church and community activities. She   actively supported the Fil-American Association Inc. She was one of the founding members of the Filipino Catholic Society and also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Loonanon Mutual Aid/Pioneers in Santa Maria, CA.

She was a good person to all who knew her, and was always available for her family and friends. Her home was open to those in need. She will be truly missed…

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a vigil at 6:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. A private committal service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
