Paul Scannell passed away on January 26, 2024, due to health complications at the age of 76. Paul was born on May 30, 1947 to James & Katherine Scannell in Boston Massachusetts. Paul was the 2nd of 4 sons, Shaun, Kenny & Chris Scannell. In 1965 Paul graduated from Braintree High in Braintree, MA. After graduating high school, Paul enlisted in the Navy and completed his Naval training at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland and was then stationed in Iceland & Spain.
In 1963, Paul met the love of his life, his wife of 56 years Ingrid "Winky" Scannell (Van Motman) thru a mutual friend. Paul & Winky went on to have 4 wonderful children, Ricky (Teri), Jennifer (Adam), Yvonne (Josh) (Dan) & Valerie (Jesse), 15 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews & in-laws. If you knew Paul, you know that family was the most important thing in his life! Paul also had Many great friends that he would consider family.
In 2007 Paul retired from Petrochem Inc/Dow Chemical. This was when Paul began his retirement journey of becoming an active member of the following organizations: Paul was a Commodore for the Sportsmen Yacht Club in Antioch, CA; Master; Commodore for Shriner Yacht Club; Southwest President of Blue Gavel; American Legion Commander Post 161 (6 years); California DAV Convention Chair 2016/2017; DAV Mt. Diablo Chapter Commander Pittsburg, CA #154 2019/2021; DVG board of Directors 2014-present; proud clamper; and was proudly ANTIOCH VETERAN OF THE YEAR 2017. Paul was very much involved with organizations such as Driftwood Yacht Club, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Stand Down on the Delta 2015/2023.
Paul had a love for helping others especially Veterans and because of that he will Forever be remembered!
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 11:00am to 2:00pm with Sharing of Memories at 12:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Military burial on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10:00am at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, Ca 95620.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Paul Scannell to any Veteran Organization.
