Obituary

Pedro "Pete" Baria passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Pete is survived by his beloved wife Roma and sons Pete, Geary and Michael.

Pete was born in Hanamaulu, HI on the island of Kauai, first born to the late Nicasio and Dionisia Baria. After a brief return to the family's home province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines, Pete and his younger brother "Primo" returned to Kauai as young boys to work in the plantations and continue their education. After high school, Pete enlisted in the US Army and served on the battlefield with the 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War. After his enlistment, he married his wife Roma, started a family, furthered his education and began a long and distinguished career in Civil Service, eventually retiring from the Oakland Army Base as a Marine Cargo Specialist in 1985.

In addition to his three sons and his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Pete is survived by brother Cornelio; sisters Adelaida Baria Jose and Norma Baria Estolas; grandchildren Peter, Rebecca, Bethany, Paul and Anna from son Pete; Josh, Jason, Jared and Jordan from son Geary; Grace and Jacob from son Michael. In addition to his mother and father, Pete is preceded in death by brothers Primitivo, Antonio, Victor, Henry, Vicente and one sister.

Pete was a beloved husband and father who served his family and his country with commitment, distinction and pride. He will be greatly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
