Phylis Ann
Carpino
Apr 17, 1939 — Nov 26, 2023
Pittsburg
Phylis Ann Carpino was born April 17, 1939, in Pittsburg, California, to Dan and Fannie Clemens. She passed peacefully at her home, on November 26th, 2023, at the age of 84. Phylis was a native and lifelong resident of Pittsburg. After graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1957, she married the love of her life Pete Carpino and moved to Humboldt County. She was a homemaker and worked part-time for a department store while caring for her first 2 young children. Upon returning to Pittsburg, California, in 1963, she continued to care and provide for her growing family of 6, and worked various jobs. Phylis worked for Chiropractor Dr. Clark, in Pittsburg, and in her later years, she worked for the Pittsburg School District and retired after more than 20 years of service.
Phylis was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd and the Italian American Club. She shared a very special and unique friendship with a group of lifelong childhood friends, and always looked forward to their annual trips to Aptos. Phylis lived life to the fullest, with a passion for travel, and was ready for adventure with bags packed at any given moment. Phylis enjoyed playing cards with her family, going to the casinos, and loved dancing to all genres of music. Her love for ice in her wine was a staple at every function. She was a devoted Bay Area fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Giants, and Warriors. She loved attending, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's school and sporting events, but most of all, getting together with family and friends at social events was what she enjoyed the most. Phylis will be forever remembered for her kind and loving spirit. Her bright light will continue to shine in the lives of everyone who was honored to know her.
Phylis was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Peter Carpino, her children Dino Carpino (Shelly), Frank Carpino (Patti), and Paula Valle (Joette), her grandchildren Thomas Carpino (Paige) Gianna Carpino, Nicole and Sarah Carpino, Mario Valle (Nikki), Nicholas Valle (Kelley), her great-grandchildren Anniah Carpino, Mario III and Lorenzo Valle, Giavanna, Jameson and Aliciana Valle, Amelia Carpino, Baby Boy Carpino (due March 2024), and many nieces and nephews.
Phylis was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Fannie Clemens, brothers Dan Clemens (Rose) and Tom Clemens, nephew Steve Clemens, niece Kari Clemens, and son Bobby Carpino.
