Raleigh Guy Jardine was born on August 25, 1937 and died suddenly on January 2nd, 2021

Raleigh was born in Clarkston, Utah to parents Blanche and Leo Jardine. As a young boy he would help his Mother in her garden where he learned how to grow plants and flowers. He would also help his Father, a machinist, where he learned about engines and fixing things around the house. Raleigh graduated in 1955 and soon after married Wilma Jardine. Raleigh and Wilma had three children Vickie, Guy and Sherry.

In 1970 Raleigh was remarried to Grace Jardine and they celebrated 51 wonderful, happy years of marriage.

Grace brought into their marriage her two sons, David Lawson and Daniel Lawson

Raleigh is survived by wife Grace, her sons Dave Lawson and girlfriend Shelley Mitchell, Dan Lawson and his wife Lorraine, Raleigh's three children, Vickie Smith and husband Reid, Guy Jardine and wife Domani and Sherry Peterson and husband Steve. Grandchildren, Memree Byers and husband Dan, Nicole Downey and husband Nathan, TeAnna Flannery and husband Blake, Kassie Hibbard and husband Brian, Brenton Smith and wife Allison,  Brycen Peterson, Tracy Knapp and husband Brandon, and Taryn Torres and husband TC. 19 great grandchildren, Kimball, Zane and Savannah Henderson, Logan, Mia Grace, Luke and Jack Downey, Killian, Liam, Finn and Eva Flannery, Allison Hibbard, Dylan and Madison Smith, Aaron, Victoria and Savannah Knapp, Cory, Carter and Quinn Torres.

Raleigh started working at age 16 in the grocery business and continued in that line of work until he retired at age 55.Over his 39 year career he became one of the most respected and valuable managers in Albertsons. So much so that he was called upon many times to fix a store that was not profitable. Soon after he took charge he had things humming along and running as it should. He knew what to do and more importantly, how to get the most out of his employees.

He was so successful at rejuvenating a store that he would soon get the call that the company had another store that needed his magic touch and off he would go. On most occasions that meant he and Grace would pack up and move to a new area. His commitment to the company and to his profession would eventually see him promoted from a store manager position and into corporate management with Petrini's Grocery Chain.

Raleigh thrived in this environment and in time was promoted to VP of the Western Division of the US for Petrini's. During his tenure he was creative, had a keen eye for recognizing the potential in people and was able to turn potential into results. He was quick to implement good ideas and established many inventive ideas that were adopted by competitive grocery chains and are still in use today.

After retirement Raleigh and Grace purchased an RV and traveled  the United States. They loved it and visited every state but Massachusetts and North Dakota. Because of the special couple they were together, they made lasting friendships all over the country.

Raleigh was very handy, able to repair or build just about anything. However, the one project he never enjoyed was anything to do with plumbing. A plumbing repair that went well for him was one that only required two trips to the hardware store to fix the issue. Usually it would take more like three or four before he could get the darn thing to stop leaking. Apart from his dislike for plumbing, he and Grace remodeled a number of homes and together they would turn an old rundown house into a beautiful home.

Raleigh was well known for his delicious tomatoes. He said that the special formula he fed them was the reason they were so good. We called them "Bumpa's tomatoes." The name given him by great grandson, Aaron, when he was a toddler and he was called "Bumpa" by all the California and Las Vegas families ever since.

He loved fishing and won several awards. He loved sports, baseball being his favorite but also enjoyed football, and basketball. He also enjoyed going to Reno occasionally and playing the penny machines.

He was very talented, loved to play the harmonica and organ. Occasionally Grace would join him and play her kazoo and he would laugh his wonderful hearty laugh which would only add to the beautiful music they made together.

He loved to create paintings and had been away from that love for several years, so for Christmas his artist daughter-in-law, Lorraine, gave him a set of oil paints and a certificate for painting lessons. He was so excited to begin but unfortunately God took him before they could begin their lessons.

Raleigh was a loving, caring, generous man and at times very tough, but always fair. He touched many lives both in his career and in his personal life and all were better off because of his influence and kindness. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
