With our heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Raymond Stephen Tamayo on October 16, 2015, at the age of 84, from natural causes at his home in Brentwood, alongside Ray was his loving son, Terry.
"Ray" was born in Fresno, CA. on June 1, 1931, eldest son of Juan and Dolores Tamayo.
Ray married Patricia on July 18, 1953 they were married 53 years before her passing on September 4, 2006. Ray worked in the auto service industry until Ray was employed with US Steel in Pittsburg, CA. until his retirement in 1995. Ray enjoyed bowling and loved playing cards - poker with his family and friends. Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle and "Popo" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ray is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by his family; his two sons Steven (Carolyn), Terry and daughter Felecia Hernandez (Ralph), grandchildren, Tara
Parker (Galone), Jason Tamayo (Marlena), Yvonne and Ralph Jr. Hernandez, Johnny Ray and Celina Tamayo and five great grandchildren , Jordan and Savanna Parker, Leo, Jackson and Olivia Tamayo, his eleven sisters and brothers: Carmen Serna (Buddy) Jenny Vigil, Ruben Tamayo (Thelma), Dolores Nino (Manuel), Vince Elizarraraz, Paul
Tamayo (Mary), Margaret Cadway (Bare), Rosalie Tamayo, Robert Tamayo (Frieda) and Cecilia Canzani (Emilio) all living in the bay area and numerous family members and friends. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Louise Tamayo, granddaughter, Renee Hernandez, his parents Juan and Dolores Tamayo, his two younger brothers, Fred and Richard Tamayo and sister, Mary Helen Elizarraraz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm. Chapel liturgy Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:00am both days at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
