Obituary

Rebecca Jean Rose passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the age of 74. She was born on June 20, 1952, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Emory J. Williford and Geraldine Davidson Williford. She moved to Antioch, California when she was 8 years old and graduated from Antioch High School in 1970.

Rebecca, who went by Becky, made Antioch her home, where she and her beloved husband, Theodore “Ted” Rose, built a life centered on family, strength, and love. Together they raised their two sons, Jason and Johnny, who were the greatest joy of their lives. Ted preceded Becky in death, and while she deeply missed him, the love they shared continues through the family they built together.

While Jason and Johnny were growing up, Becky worked at Kids N Cribs. During those years, her mother, known to everyone as Grandma Jerry, lived with the family and cared for the boys while Becky worked. Together, Ted, Becky, and Grandma Jerry created a home filled with love, laughter, guidance, and support. Jason and Johnny were blessed to grow up surrounded by three people who loved them deeply.

Becky was always on the go. She spent countless hours driving not only Jason and Johnny, but also many of their teammates and friends to soccer, baseball, and football practices, games, and other activities. Her sporty 1979 Camaro Z28 was only a four-seater, but that never stopped her from somehow fitting four or five kids in the car to make sure everyone got where they needed to be. There always seemed to be room for one more, and she never minded making an extra stop or taking another child home. She loved being a team mom and was always there to cheer on her boys from the sidelines. One of her favorite memories was being “team mama” of the Starfires who won the Juniors District 4 Little League Championship (1984) in a dramatic comeback. After being down 18-5, the Starfiresnever gave up and battled back winning the game 19-18. Watching her sons, their friends, and teammates play sports—especially football—was one of the greatest joys of her life.

Her home was always open, there was always room for one more child at the table, and many of Jason and Johnny’s friends came to think of her as a second mom. For a time, when the boys were teenagers, Becky’s house on Belle Drive was the “hang out” spot, and sometimes friends or family would stay overnight for days or weeks at a time. Once Becky became a grandmother, she and Ted loved having their grandchildren around the house where they could play with numerous toys and pets in the nice, big backyard.

Becky also helped at Turner Elementary School, where she had the special privilege of working in her sons’ classrooms. She loved helping teachers, volunteering on field trips, and being involved in every part of her children’s education. Later, she worked at Grocery Outlet, where she enjoyed meeting people. In fact, sometimes her line would be full of customers who were waiting to visit her, while other check stands were open with no line.

Becky took tremendous pride in her home and yard. She loved gardening, working outside, and making sure everything was neat and welcoming. She and Grandma Jerry shared a love of scrapbooking, arts and crafts, preserving family memories through photographs, and filling their home with framed pictures of the people they loved most. Together, they enjoyed keeping their home clean and organized. Every room reflected the love they had for their family and the memories they created together.

Becky also loved listening to good old rock ‘n’ roll music, especially while working around the house or out in the garden. In quieter moments, she enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and television shows and never missed a San Francisco Giants game. Those who cared for Becky or just spent time with her also had the privilege of sitting beside her, watching her favorite shows and cheering on the Giants together. Those simple moments became treasuredmemories that will never be forgotten.

Becky is lovingly survived by her eldest son, Jason Rose, his wife, Kristin, and their children, Jack and Kate; and by her youngest son, Johnny Rose, his wife, Shelby, and their children, Jozalyn, Jessee, and Jake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Rose; her parents, Emory J. Williford and Geraldine “Grandma Jerry” Williford. She also leaves behind the cherished memories of her grandson, Justin Rose; her lifelong friend Terry Johnson; and other loved ones who welcomed her into eternal rest.

Becky’s life was defined not by the things she owned, but by the love she gave. She taught her family the importance of honesty, kindness, generosity, hard work, and always showing up for the people you love. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on in her children, grandchildren, and in everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

“Those we love don’t go away.

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near.

Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
