Obituary

Remedios "Remey" Acuna, also fondly known as Mama Ding, age 85, passed away on May 13, 2019 from the effects of a stroke. She positively impacted the lives of many with her loving, warm, and compassionate spirit.

Remey was born in Cavite City, Philippines, where she met the love of her life, Freddie. She had two children before moving to the United States to join her husband who was a member of the U.S. Navy. After moves across the U.S., and the birth of her two younger children, her family ultimately planted roots in Pittsburg where she and Freddie became grandparents to nine grandchildren, making them Mama Ding and Daddy Papa. Mama Ding worked with Bank of America for many years before retiring in the mid-90s. She would go on to work at Concord Disposal for several years until her second retirement. While there, she shared her relationship with Jesus Christ with owners and co-workers affectionately becoming mother and grandmother to many. Upon the passing of her cherished husband, she took on the mantle as Senior Pastor of "I Found the Answer Ministries" in Pittsburg. She recently retired from this position in January of 2019. Remey's life was well lived as she was a mighty prayer warrior ministering to many and touching lives wherever she went. She leaves a powerful legacy and will forever be our beloved Mama Ding.

Remey is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie; daughter, Marites; father, Ruperto; and mother, Remedios. She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn (Sting), Veny, Alice, Mimi, and Edith (Jessie); children, Joey Sr. (Gigi), Jeryck, Margie (Steve); and grandchildren, Melchor Jr., Joey Jr., Matthew, Melissa, Monique (Zack), Steve "Chili" Jr., Megan, Alina (Ben), and Anthony.
