Obituary

Reuben Reguero Barruel was born on May 28th, 1936, in Naga, Cebu, Philippines. He was the third of eight children born to Margarito Barruel and Marcosa Reguero Barruel. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Silliman University, Dumaguete City. Reuben then moved to work for a large firm in Manila, Philippines. He worked in research and development, creating multiple products.

Reuben was a gifted vocalist who won several singing competitions and eventually competed and won in the national talent show "Tawag ng Tanghalan" (Call to the Stage).  Despite success in his career and in entertainment, Reuben longed for the true meaning of life. Reuben heard the good news of Jesus' love and gave his life to Christ. He then began to sing for his Lord and Savior. As a well-known singer throughout the country, he saw doors open and began singing at different churches and ministries across the Philippines. He then began traveling with his brother, Benjamin. They were known as the Barruel Brothers. They later traveled with Far East Broadcast Company as Mizpah Quartet throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States, spreading the love of God through music.

Reuben met Clarita Alarcon Lopez, a Pastor at Lucban Bethel Temple, and the two married on April 13th, 1964. As they asked the Lord, they had two children, Stephen and Eunice. After getting married, they pastored at Bethel Temple in Pasig City, Philippines.

In 1977, Reuben and his family were led by the Lord to immigrate to the United States, where they settled in Pittsburg, California. Their vision from God was to build "Bridges of Love" among local churches and denominations and to bring renewal to people's lives. Reuben served the local church communities, organizing unity events through gatherings and the "March for Jesus" in Pittsburg and throughout the Bay Area, where they saw a great move of God with many miracles in people's lives.

Reuben (with his wife Clarita) later established a local church community, Christian Renewal Ministries (now The Renewal Church), which has since touched and transformed countless lives and families. Today, The Renewal Church is pastored by Reuben's children, Revs Eunice Barruel-Lam Yuen and Stephen Barruel, along with their spouses Iosefa Lam Yuen and Ruby Ann Barruel, who continue to carry out the mantle and legacy of their father.

Reuben Barruel completed his earthly mission and went home to be with his Savior and Lord on June 23, 2026, at 7:15 AM. He was 90 years old. He is survived by his wife, Clarita; his son, Stephen; his wife, Ruby; his daughter, Eunice, and her husband, Iosefa; their families; his grandchildren, Chastity, Justyne, Cecelia, Honorina, and Gabriel; and his great-grandchildren, A'Ria, Josiah, Malakai, and Lilyana. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Victor Barruel, of Stockton, California.

He will be greatly missed by all for his unconditional love for his family and others, his profound teachings, his great sense of humor, his wonderful voice, and his deep love for His Lord, Jesus.

We will see you in the morning…..
