Richard Vincent Culcasi was born on February 4, 1953 to Eleanor and Vince Culcasi, and passed away on March 25, 2023. Growing up in Pittsburg California, Richard developed a sense of adventure by exploring his neighborhood with friends. Richard picked up an assortment of handy "Mr. Fix-It" skills - and worked on home-based projects - with his father Vince on the days Vince (a dedicated fireman) was home on stand-by. Richard graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1971, and afterward supported his avid love for skiing and sailing with a job at Lucky Stores.

Richard's loved ones celebrated him as a "jack-of-all-trades" who always met a project with a can-do attitude, creativity, and pride. Whether the project entailed designing a gazebo and its light fixtures with nothing but materials, building fences, paving steps and home floors (even designing and remodeling his own kitchen!), removing dents from cars and re-finishing the auto body paint, repairing computers and building them from scratch, or filing business taxes, Richard considered no task too daunting. He claimed with pride and truth that his handiwork would stand strong for decades.

Richard's talents served him well in his business endeavors. Richard won awards for his work on solar panel engineering and enjoyed the freedom and success of owning his own carpet cleaning business, Spectre Services. Richard obtained a patent for a car part, which he designed to hang over the dashboard. Richard also took pride in learning how to build computers "since the beginning" of the revolutionary technology.

Even after retirement, Richard never stopped creating new things and enjoying his hobbies. You could usually catch him with friends, going on ski trips in Bear Valley, out in the garage maintaining his cars, or driving balls at the golf course. Richard was a student of the game of golf. He was always thrilled to talk all about strategy and swing mechanics and would be the first to tell you how "Golf was a great game!" Adventurous as he was, Richard also appreciated the peace and comfort of his Antioch, California home: enjoying time with his housemates shooting pool or watching NASCAR races or XFL Football games.

Richard joins his parents, Eleanor and Vince, and many beloved family members in eternal life. Richard will fondly be remembered by his loved ones for his passion, quick wit, sense of humor, resourcefulness, and his dedication to sharing his talents.

Those who loved Richard and wish to say goodbye are welcome to attend his committal services at Holy Cross Cemetery, on April 28, 2023, from 2:00 p.m., where he will be laid to rest on the northern side of the cemetery on E. 18th Street . Mourners are welcome after the service to meet at the Lone Tree Golf Course for a toast to Richard's life. In lieu of flowers, Richard's loved ones invite donors to make a contribution to the American Tinnitus Association in Richard's honor.
