Obituary

Rodolfo Abubo Navera, peacefully passed away in his sleep at the age of 92 in Pittsburg, California surrounded by loved ones. Rodolfo was born on January 12, 1932 in La Union, Philippines. He grew up with four siblings; Lourdes Peterson, Tony Navera, Rino Navera, and Veronica Venuti.

When he grew older, Rodolfo enlisted in the military and was then chosen to be in the US Coast Guard in 1955. He was rated as a Sustenance Specialist, better known as a cook, in the Coast Guard.

In May 1962, he met his wife, Maxima Navera, in Baguio City, Philippines. After about a month of courting they married in June 1962. Together they had two children, one son and one daughter. Their son, Joseph Navera, was born in Baguio City, Philippines, and their daughter, Rosemarie Roberts, was born in Cavite, Philippines. They would then later adopt a son, Tracy Navera, on April 30, 2008 in La Union, Philippines.

While Rodolfo was in service, he and his family moved out of the Philippines to start a new life in the United States; they moved to Portland, Maine in 1965, then to Alameda, California in 1969. In 1975, Rodolfo retired from the US Coast Guard as Sustenance Specialist Petty Officer First Class after 20 years of service. He would then work for the Alameda Unified School District in 1977 working in custodial services for 10 years and retired in 1987. It was in 1979 they bought their home in Pittsburg. During his retirement, he had time to enjoy some hobbies which include fishing, woodworking, car tinkering, cooking, and the occasional visits to Cache Creek Casino.

Rodolfo is predeceased by his parents, his brother Tony, and his sister Veronica. He is survived by his wife, Maxima; his sister and brother, Lourdes and Rino (Ester); his three children, Joseph, Rosemarie (James), and Tracy; and his three grandchildren, Joslyn Navera, Devany Williams (Nolan), and Tyrell Navera.
