Obituary

Roger S. Tumbaga passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 as a result of a stroke. Roger was born in Zamboanga, Philippines. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Golden Gate University and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.

He enjoyed a 20-year Career in the United States Air Force retiring in 1980. He had a 40-year second career as a Real Estate Broker and was an active member of the Delta Association of Realtors. He touched many lives as he worked throughout his civilian life tirelessly for the betterment of not only those less fortunate than he, but was also driven to fulfill his civic duties and responsibilities. He served on both county and city commissions, school board focus groups, and served on the boards of directors of the Pittsburg Economic and Housing Development Corp., Pacific Community Services, Inc., the Los Medanos Fund, the Filipino American Association of Pittsburg, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and Elks Lodge. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Martyr of Verona Church and served in many ministries during his lifetime.

Roger loved reading and studying World War II history, watching old movies, sports, most especially Pittsburg High School Football and Wrestling.

Roger is survived by his "Wife #1" of 54 years, Rose Mary, devoted son Michael, grandchildren, Elyssia and Michael II, brothers Sergio and Edgar of Pittsburg, sisters Teresita DeTorres and Donna Villalpando of Union City and Frances Passot of Pittsburg, numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Timi Tumbaga, parents Edward and Felisa Tumbaga, sisters Pilar Tumbaga and Virginia Pierce all from Pittsburg.

He was a kind, loving and devoted husband, father grandfather, brother, brother-in law, uncle, cousin. and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 5:00pm with a vigil service at 6:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:00am St Peter Martyr Church. Committal services with full military honors will follow at Presidio of San Francisco.
