Roseanne Lazio: 85 Years a Blessing to Family and Friends

A Pittsburg-Rooted Life

PITTSBURG, CA – Roseanne Lazio, a woman whose boundless warmth, sharp mind, and enduring spirit blessed everyone she met, passed away peacefully in her beloved home on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her bedside family. She was 85 years old. Born on October 17, 1940, to her deeply loved parents, the late Victor and Carmen (Papetti) Cattolico, Roseanne grew up in a vibrant, close-knit household. She was fiercely proud of her hometown of Pittsburg, California, and her rich Italian-Sicilian-Catholic heritage. She was a member of the very first graduating class of Saint Peter Martyr School and went on to graduate from Pittsburg High School in 1958. Soon after, she married the absolute love of her life, Frank "Sheiks" Lazio, building a life anchored in family, faith, and community.

From Homemaker to ICU Healer

For over a decade, Roseanne dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, taking meticulous and loving care of her three children. When her children grew older, she bravely embarked on a new chapter, enrolling in the AA Nursing Program at Los Medanos Community College (LMC). It was a turning point in her life; she always credited the perceptive teachers at LMC for helping her get officially diagnosed with dyslexia and providing her with the practical tools to thrive academically. Thrive she did. Roseanne launched a distinguished, four-decade career in nursing. She began at Los Medanos Hospital in her hometown, where her dedication to healthcare led to her being elected twice to the Los Medanos Hospital Board. When LMH closed, she transitioned to the ICU department at John Muir Hospital North (formerly Mount Diablo Hospital). Over the decades, Roseanne earned multiple specialty nursing certifications and became a certified CPR instructor. She was legendary in the hospital corridors for her gentle touch and an uncanny, masterly ability to find difficult veins painlessly—a skill that had departments from all over the hospital requesting her expertise. True to her nature, her decades on the job gifted her with countless lifelong friends.

A Legacy of Service and Community

Roseanne's hands were rarely still, and her heart was always open. When her children were small, she returned to Saint Peter Martyr School, immersing herself in volunteering—cooking breakfasts and lunches, teaching art, and eventually presiding as the President of the Parents' Association. Her civic-minded spirit extended to the Soroptimist international service group, where she relished planning events and fundraisers. Her decades of abundant service to her communitywere so impactful that she was formally inducted into the Contra Costa County Women's Hall of Fame.

Faith, Art, and the Joy of Christmas

Roseanne possessed a brilliant artistic flair. She could cut hair, sew clothes, arrange flowers, paint beautifully with watercolors and oils, set a picturesque dining table, and tie a flawless decorative ribbon bow. She loved musical theater, studied recipes daily, watched the Cooking Channel with the devotion of a true Julia Child disciple, and enjoyed simple outdoor walks. Her hospitality was unmatched. Her door was always open to anyone needing a cup of coffee, a listening ear, a meal, or a sweet treat. She was legendary for her cooking and baking, frequently sharing her homemade biscotti, chocolate cake, tacos, and pizza with the masses. Of all the seasons, Christmas was her ultimate masterpiece. Weeks before the holiday, her home would fill with 24/7 Christmas radio music. Roseanne would sing, bake, and decorate every single room with a meticulous style worthy of a design magazine spread. Beneath her vibrant social life was a quiet, deep faith. She cherished the tradition of praying the Rosary and lovingly maintained an outdoor shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary at her home. Alongside Sheiks and their friends, she knew how to have a good time, exploring the world on numerous cruises to Mexico, Alaska, and Italy.

Family and Caretakers

Roseanne's greatest pride was her beautiful family and the deep bonds she shared with her siblings. She is survived by her loving children: Viki Acquistapace (husband Tom Acquistapace), Tonno Lazio, and Lucia Lazio (husband Craig de Beaumont). She was the adored grandmother "Noni"of Antonia Acquistapace (husband Jonah Varon), Julia Acquistapace, and James Goodfield, and the proud great-grandmother "Big Noni" of her baby great-grandson, Rahm Vito Varon. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, Raz Cattolico, and her beloved sister, Vicki Linscheid. Roseanne was reunited in heaven with her cherishable parents, Victor and Carmen Cattolico, and her dear sister, Jeannie Phillips.

A memorial funeral liturgy to honor Roseanne's remarkable life will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 11:00 am at St Ignatius of Antioch 3351 Contra Loma Blvd. Antioch.
